MUSIC
As St. Peter/St. Franicis School begins a new school year, we will attend first Friday Mass at St. Peter Church on September 2nd. Seventh and eighth grade cantors will lead the singing. In music class, these grades will begin studying about Aaron Copland and his contributions to American music. Sixth grade will review their knowledge of music theory by way of music theory bingo and will also be learning about George Gershwin. Grade 5 will be dancing and using body percussion for rhythmic expression. Grade 4 will learn more about reading the staff and will continue recorder playing. They will also learn about Mexican Independence Day and sing a song called "Viva Mexico". Grade 3 will study and listen to Peter and the Wolf and will begin recorder instruction this year. Grade 2 will dance and sing Old Brass Wagon and learn to clap various rhythms, Orff style. Grade 1 will be singing songs with movement. Kindergarten will be playing musical circle games and PreK will start developing listening skills by tapping on instruments. All classes will be singing songs about Autumn.
