The 2008-2009 school year is off to a great musical start. Kindergarten is learning to sing a song called "Down At the Park" while PreK has learned how to sing "I'm A Little Teapot" with movements. Grade 1 is playing a singing game called "Cobbler Cobbler" and grade 2 is learning the circle song "Old Brass Wagon" with movements. Grade 3 is studying and listening to Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf". Grade 5 is unscrambling words of the instruments and their families, while grade 4 is brushing up on their note reading by identifying letter names of notes and inserting the letters into sentences that form a phrase. Grades 6, 7 and 8 are unscrambling names of composers and artists, both historical and current, and matching them to compositions. This first quarter looks forward to musical games, listening exercises, singing seasonal songs and studying music history and current events in all grades. Many of the grades will visit the computer lab and work on theory, history and instruments on the smart board. May God bless all of us at St. Peter/St. Francis School as we begin another school year.
