Welcome to Kindergarten!
We have such an exciting year planned. The children are eager to learn new things and have lots of fun. For the first few weeks we will get to know each other better through many games, music, art, show and tell and stories.
In the short amount of time we’ve been in school, the students are learning so much and are off to a great start! Just learning to share, take turns and being kind to one another are so important during the first month.
During the next few months we will be learning about sorting, graphing, tallying and patterns in Math. In Religion, we will realize that Jesus is our special friend who is always with us. We will learn about creation, the Bible and practice our prayers. We will be learning letters and sounds in Phonics and enjoying stories, poems and fingerplays in Reading. In Science, we are exploring the world of caterpillars and butterflies. Our monarch caterpillars are now in their chrysalises, and we’re anxiously waiting for the butterflies to hatch! We also will be learning about bears, and we’ll have a special “Teddy Bear” picnic! Our unit on Apples and Johnny Appleseed should be lots of fun and delicious, too!
In October we will be learning about the fall season, leaves changing colors, animals hibernating and the adventures of Christopher Columbus. We will plan to visit the pumpkin patch after discovering how pumpkins grow. In November our attention will turn to the Pilgrims and Native Americans complete with a Thanksgiving feast at the end of the month.
In Kindergarten we are beginning an adventure of developing a responsible, well-rounded child. We look forward to making Kindergarten a happy and successful beginning of an enjoyable school career for your child. Thanks for your support!
